Piano @ Home Student Policy

  • Students- All students ages 6 and up who are interested in piano and are willing to make the efforts are all welcomed. A strong sense of commitment and respect is expected for those that are accepted into the studio.
  • Lesson Description- The lesson length for each student is determined by the teacher. One lesson per student each week is required. If more frequent lessons are needed, the student will be notified and extra fees will be added in the following month. Usual lesson lengths are an hour, forty-five minutes, or half an hour long.
  • Make-up Lesson Policy- At the Natalia Huang Piano Studio, we are all professional music teachers with a full teaching schedule. We do not schedule individual makeup lessons and rescheduling will not take place with advance notice. Please understand we do this to be fair to all of our students as well as to protect our personal time. We will, however, allow one GROUP makeup lesson per student between APRIL-JUNE. The makeup lessons will be in small group performance classes and dates will be TBD. Makeup lessons are not guaranteed and are limited to currently enrolled students - NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Group Class Description- Each Group Class is half an hour long. Attending both classes each week is required. If a group class is missed, no make-up class; however, asynchronous learning will be available to all students.
  • Teacher Cancellation- In the event that your teacher is unable to teach due to illnesses or other emergencies, a substitute teacher will be assigned. If we are unable to provide a sub, your lesson will be made up individually with either your teacher or another studio teacher.
  • Termination of Lesson- Please note that tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE except in the case of serious illness. A doctor's note will be requested to determine refund.
  • Payment Policy- Tuition for the Program is due prior to the start of the program. If you enroll in the middle of a semester, tuition will be prorated. We accept all major credit cards for tuition.  ALL PERFORMANCE FEES AND TUITION WILL BE NON-REFUNDABLE.
  • Technology Requirements- Each student should be equipped with a laptop or desktop computer; a chromebook is not ideal as it limits lots of functionality needed for a successful and interactive experience. Students should also have an USB-Microphone to have the best sound output possible for their lessons. Web applications needed may include but not limited to Zoom, Kahoot, Nearpod, Pear Deck, and more.
  • Vacations & Breaks- Upcoming vacations and breaks will be announced. A calendar will be given prior to the start of the program.

Student Expectations

  • Students are expected to arrive for lessons and group classes on time. Any time missed due to lateness to lessons will not be made up. This is important because one's lateness can interfere with other students' lesson times and progress.
  • Students are expected to practice at home everyday (15min-an hour or more, depending on the advancement of the student. Please discuss with the teacher if needed).
  • Students are expected to come to each lesson with his/her books. Progress should be shown at lessons from practicing at home. Consistent lack of commitments to the lessons can result in either parental involvement in monitoring practices, or termination to lessons.
  • Performance opportunities may be available throughout the program and students are required to attend.
  • Proper online classroom etiquette is expected for all students. We reserve the right to remove disruptive students from lessons.
